ARTJournaling Daily - Day 13

So, for today's prompt, number 13, I'd like you to use coffee filters in your work. My Mom was looking around the internet today, and found a bunch of cool things made entirely out of coffee filters. Personally, I thought they were pretty cool, and I was inspired to use some in my art. I want to see your creative ways of using coffee filters!! So.. go create!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 12

Today's challenge is to use a monochromatic color scheme. This is actually one of my absolute favorite things to do in a journal. It's fun to experiment with different shades and tones of the same color, and to see how they react with each other, learning which ones play nicely! You could use any color you want - one that's significant to you - for example; your favorite color, a birthstone color, or your favorite football team color. So... go create!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 11

Today's challenge is to write a journal entry and then cover it up. You see, the original art journal was used like a diary with some art involved - it's changed a whole lot since then. I do this a lot - I'll write a journal entry on one of the pages then cover it up using collage, paint, glue, stamps, or any other number of things! This works especially well if the thing you are writing about is something that you'd rather forget or would like to let go. So, go create something today!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 10

So today's prompt is to use a photograph on your art journal page. Personally I think this is a little known fact in the art journaling world - photographs actually make excellent additions to pages. It's pretty much the same thing as a magazine picture that most of us use to collage our pages, just more personal. So go create something today - and make it personal!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 9

I love using different kinds of grids on the pages, but, the thing is, some people have trouble with using and mixing patterns. It is sort of a normal type of phobia for any type of crafter; mixing and matching different pattern papers. My challenge today is to use a grid, check, square, or plaid pattern somewhere on the paper. You could stamp, glue papers, draw with markers, or whatever else you can think of. So... go create!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 8

I'm feeling colorful today! I challenge you to use each and every color of the rainbow on a page. It's not that hard - just a tiny piece of something can count as a color. And there are only seven colors in the rainbow! Bonus: you can use a rainbow on your page! If you use an actual rainbow picture, then you don't have to worry what the rest of the page looks like!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 7

For today's prompt, I'd like you to draw something on your page. It could be something as simple as a flower doodle, or something as complex as a self portrait. I think I'm going to experiment with this a little, and do a bit of manga in my page for today. I just want you to get out some pens, pencils, and other drawing materials, and draw something. I don't care if you don't think you can draw - practice makes better. And so you can't get any better if you don't practice! So go create!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 6

Sorry the post for today was so late. My brothers were on my computer all day, so I had practically no time to post. But I'm back now, with another prompt! Number six is to use a snowflake on the page. It's been snowing all day over here an Ohio, so it's kind of been crazy. When I was trying to brainstorm up a prompt, this was the first one to come to mind - and I love it! So... go create!

ARTJournaling Daliy - Day 5

This is one of my favorite things to do in an art journal. Quotes. They're an easy addition to a page, and they add a lot of personality to a page. Even if they are not exactly written by you, it shows what you like. I like to add a lot of funny quotes to my pages every now and again to spark a chuckle. But I still have serious ones. Choose one, and just go with it!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 4

There are many possible ways that you can use the same image twice. This could be many things - the same stamp, the same sticker or die cut, or the same image transfer. The possibilities are literally limitless. So go and put two of the same thing on a page - seriously, it could be something as big as two of the same 4x6 photos, or as small as two 1" punched circles.

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 3

So here we are on day number three - use the alphabet in a decorative way. I'm sure there are a lot more ways than the one I'm thinking of, but what I'm thinking is sort of making a background by stamping random letters onto a background. The same could be done with stickers. Now; you don't have to make a whole page. That's something that I like about these prompts. Yesterday's said to make a whole page, but, as a whole, they won't be like that. Only small tasks that shouldn't take long at all! So get crafting!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 2

So, for prompt number 2, I'd like you to make a page in black and yellow. I may have to upload a picture later on. There are a large number of ways to use the colors black and yellow, though, in my mind, the first thing to come to mind is bees. Bumblebees, wasps, and every other kind of bee or wasp in between. I think I'll work on that as my idea. Feel free to use it though, if you feel like it. Now get posting!

ARTJournaling Daily - Day 1

So here we are on the very first day of working on an art journal page for the ARTJournal Daily. I don't have an art journal page to share with you today, but I'll try to tomorrow. So, today's challenge/prompt is to use 5 circles on a single page. At least. The possibilities are possibly endless. Stamp, draw, paint or any other number of things to create the circles. Have fun!

Goals for 2011

Okay, so I know I'm kind of late in posting this. As in, we're already 2 weeks into 2011. But, better late than never, right? I've been doing a lot of art journaling in the last few days; I've just started back up after a Christmas Break (I actually don't think there should ever be a break from arting, but I got so caught up in the moment, I forgot.) I'm going to be posting a list of goals for the new year, and I hope that you will follow me along on my arting adventure - working my way into new mediums and taking trips into the unknown. (This is starting to sound a little creepy...) So, without further ado, here we go.

1. I will work in my art journal every day, even if it is something as insignificant as a small doodle.
2. I will post on this blog every day (More on this later on in the post)
3. I will continue to post things to my Etsy shop and to work on getting sales.
4. I will continue to work on my manga, learning to shade and color them better as well.
5. I will try to delve deeper into collaging in my art journals, which, currently, is sort of scarce
6. I will experiment with new colors, especially purple and pink, two colors which I am not particularly fond of.

Now, going back to the second goal for this year. Blogging daily. Art journaling daily. Every day I will post a prompt/challenge that you should complete in your journal. It should only taken 5-25 minutes to actually complete, and it will help you remember to work in your journal every day.
